I wonder this quite a bit. I swear to GOD I was just thinking about it a couple days ago: where do all the broken, old, useless cars go? Of course they go to the junkyard, right? Get recycled or at least pounded into a smaller amount of waste, right? Maybe. But photographer knows about another place in Kaufdorf where they’re set in the grass and allowed to turn back into the land. Weird? Yes! But it might not be around for long…

This location is called Autofriedhof and it’s located in Kaufdorf, which is in Switzerland. As of late last year (9.09), it was threatened to be shut down, but since their Autofriedhof.ch site is still up, I’m thinking they’re alright.

The photos you see above and below are taken by photographer Stefan Bucher. I’m a big fan both of preserving pieces of history AND of letting some of them rot and die out. In this case, the loveliness is definitely in the rust.
