Dissected Rad Knitted

So let me tell you this. It seems like there might be a thread and yarn revolution going on. If you search for the word “knit” or “stitch” on World Famous Design Junkies, you’ll find no lack of posts published recently, ALL of which ended up being really quite popular due to their unique nature. People are really enjoying the idea of turning this cute craft into something distorted and in a very modern way beautiful.

What we’ve got here today is right up there with the best: “Knitting in Biology 101″, a project by The Crafty Hedgehog, master of the knit!

What this project does is re-create the most terrifying (or exciting, depending on how you experienced it) moment of your middle school or early high-school career: the dissection of a frog or a rat. TCH has made and sold quite a few of these lovlies already, and has just recently moved from corkboard to actual real dissection plates filled with black wax. She says not to worry though, they’re new and un-used.

TCH notes the following super kawaii message:

3 out of 4 biologists agree: Knitting in Biology 101 is the cutest biology project, ever! If you think so too, then this, my friend, is for you.

Wow your scientist friends and colleagues with the coolness of this piece of knitted art. The frog is hand knit from a silk/wool blend, and his little innards are needle-felted by hand out of 100% wool. He comes pinned into his actual dissection tray (never used!), but he is not glued down, so you can take him out and cuddle him if you wish.

Yes so cute! Below you’ll find a bunch of photos of these projects, some on cork, some in pans, but note that they’re all examples. If you’d like to order a dissected animal of your own, you have but to contact TCH on her Etsy account: CraftyHedgehog

NOTE: You’ll be excited to know that TCH has now started to knit fetal pigs as well as, oh my goodness, the Easter Bunny.

GROSS!

Cute.
