The Decoder Ring Design Concern sh_mos_1 The Hold Steady and Mates of State

Brain’d spankin new prints from the Decoder Ring! If you’re not familiar, they’re called The Decoder Ring Design Concern, and they’re in basically the same “cool guys club” as many printmakers in Minneapolis that you may have heard of from World Famous Design Junkies. Take a peek at the screenprinting category to see what I mean. Meanwhile, take a peep at these lovelies straight out of Austin, Texas.

Robert Pollard : by Christian Helms
He’s never met a beer he didn’t like, or a microphone he couldn’t swing. If you haven’t seen Bob live you’ve missed a high-kicking, alcohol-fueled rock-and-roll spectacle. He’s the 3-way love child of a keg of Bud, the Energizer Bunny and The Who. And he’s coming to your town— buy the ticket.

Balmorhea, Austin, Tx : by Paul Fucik
If and when you make the drive out to Marfa make sure to take some of Balmorhea’s music along. The music pairs well with the West Texas landscape. These posters are sold as a set. If you want an individual one e-mail us ask@thedecoderring.com, tell us which one you want, and we can get that to you.

Kurt Wagner at Liberty Hall : by Renee Fernandez
Inspired by the line, “Well I’m not so well acquainted with the topography of your mind.”

Gnarls Barkley : by Geoff Peveto
Even though Gnarls Barkley are somewhere between Soul, Pop and Rap they always struck me as one step away from the Psychedelic elements of the late 60′s and early 70′s. Maybe it’s all their crazy stage get ups. Whatever it is their music feels like a factory chugging out dayglo to me.

Mates of State at La Zona Rosa : By Renee Fernandez
Printed on soft charcoal-gray paper, and the sheep has a nice pearly sheen ’cause he uses Lustre-Creme shampoo. Or at least he did before he became the less fortunate half of a cliché.

The Hold Steady: Austin Poster : by Christian Helms
Poster promoting the band’s recent stop in Austin in support of their stellar new album, Stay Positive. Rock-and-roll livin’ is hard, kiddos. Get it? Get it?!!!! The show was the best I’ve seen in a year. Do yourself a favor, get off your futon and go see The Hold Steady.

Lyle Lovett at Ballroom Marfa : by Paul Fucik
Lyle loves his hats and Texans love their Lyle. We made this 2 color poster for Ballroom’s intimate acoustic show during their fundraising weekend out in Marfa.

Hold Steady Tour Poster : By Paul Fucik
The Hold Steady went out on the road for a little spring-time travel, and we provided the accommodations.
