Wooden Kaws Stormtroopers Hand Carved Out of Wood

There are some people who enjoy their Kaws. Then there are some people who FLIP OUT over their Kaws. Then there are people who commission their woodturning master friends to carve them exact replicas of Kaws toys so that they can have every version, even the versions that didn’t exist before they made them. Each of the wooden figures you see here were hand-carved from Suar and Teak wood in Ubud, a town in the center of the island of Bali. The fellow who lets us in on his fabulous acquisitions goes by the name Avi*.

*not the movie format!

These were carved by a friend of mine (in Bali.) He is a master carver so the details are crisp. It takes a lifetime to develop skills like that and it is only passed down from father to son. – avi@indodreamin.com

The original Kaws figure here was on sale several months ago (maybe even last year already) OriginalFake store (Kaws’s store in collaboration with Medicom Toy) in Tokyo*. It was (is) approximately 15 inches tall and made of vinyl plastic.

THIS entry though is about the WOODEN troopers you see there. They are handmade. Let me repeat that: they are HAND MADE, carved out of wood by hand. They are unique. They are not official releases. They are unique. And if anyone would want to be so kind as to send one to me, that’d be great!

This is from the World Famous Design Junkies hand made category.
