UPDATE: this is now gonna be a 24″ x 18″ screenprint as well. Get your clickers, paypals, and F7 buttons out, it’s time for the races! (released 9/29/09)
ORIGINAL POST: (January 29, 2009) A fellow like Shepard Fairey isn’t a person to stay away from recognizable symbols, but lo! here one might be! For 20+ years Shepard Fairey has been dealing in the reproduction and distortion and embellishing of famous and underground symbols. It should seem out of place that he’d do the art piece above; just a wave. Comparable to images Shepard Fairey produced in his short time in Hawaii, this giant wave artwork was a work known by few up until now, discovered by the fine sleuths at thegiant.org – a community of artists I personally endorse. Ride the wave!
“Jaws Wave”
it is 50×72 stencil collage on cotton rag
Or is it just a wave? Perhaps not.
As any modern art collector with a small pocketbook and a big heart will tell you, one cannot ignore the works of Shepard Fairey – a family man, and a decent fellow!

UPDATE: The ObeyGiant twitter account posted the above picture with the below quote:
New piece on it’s way to the framers!
Pretty!
