sarah louise kelly saloukee paper jewelry

From the genius birthing bed of process creation comes this collection of lovely paper jewelry. Sarah Louise Kelly dubs these lovelies “Saloukee” paper jewelry, originally made as models for much larger pieces, now taking a slight life of their own as hand-hangers.

The name ‘Saloukee’ comes from my name – Sarah Louise Kelly – and I create sculptured art jewellery made in paper.

For years I had created traditional jewellery models in paper as preparation for larger works. It was at this point that I realised that I loved working with the sensitive, ephemeral nature of paper, much more than the metals which I had been traditionally trained with.

Take a peek at these pieces and you will see the delicate preciousness they exude. Many of the pieces include several hundred hand pressed rivets, intricate laser cutting and complex paper folding techniques. I believe it’s the patience and precision it takes to make them helps create works of art to be treasured. — Sarah Louise Kelly
