This post is short in stature. It is a giant post in that it’s totally amazingly wonderful, but every little character here is CHIBI! What is “chibi,” you might ask? Look below for an extended answer, but for now: it means “tiny and cute!” What we’ve got here is the magnificent illustrator / designer Joe Wight performing the ant’s Herculean feat of drawing a chibi version of a Star Wars character corresponding with each of the 26 letters in the modern english alphabet.
Who gets the coveted “C” spot, Chewbacca or C-3PO?
Discover this and more below!
This amazing set was submitted to us with a simple alphabetical list with corresponding name and picture. I added little notes to this list here and there for the newbs, all of which are inside (parenthesis.)
A is for Ackbar

C is for Chewbacca (C-3P0 gets to be called Threepio for this!)

E is for Emperor (Palpatine!)
F is for 4-LOM (the droid bounty-hunter)
G is for Greedo
H is for Han (Solo!)
I is for IG-88 (the OTHER droid bounty-hunter)
J is for Jabba (the Hutt!)
K is for Klaatu (with the vibro-ax)
L is for Luke (Skywalker!)

V is for Veers (as in, General Veers)
W is for Wicket (the ewok)
X is for X-Wing Pilot (I think that’s Biggs)
Y is for Yoda
Z is for Zuckuss (the bug-looking bounty hunter)
And what is chibi, you might still be asking? It’s still a “slang” term so it’s not really “officially” a word anywhere yet, so I’ll explain. It’s a Japanese-born word describing a small animal, human, or sometimes thing. The smallness is not just reduced proportionally (like with a shrink ray), and it does not mean that the thing being described is a child. The thing that is chibi must be both tiny and cute, and not just cute, Kawaii cute, or SUPER cute. The arms and legs must be stubby, the head is usually giant, the tools they hold are usually very large for them or just as stubby, and very often their eyes are GIANT. Look up “chibi” in any image-search engine, you’ll see a lot of similarities.
Below you’ll find a lovely gallery of containing every one of these illustrated Star Wars friends! Look and love these little critters, each one of them done start-to-finish by the magic illustrator himself, Joe Wight. If you don’t know, check it out: Joe Wight’s done a few other Star Wars related projects, including the covers of the manga-adaptations of the 5th, 6th, and 7th movies. He also, according to Wookiepedia, did some illustrations for a Star Wars related “learn to read” book. He makes amazing drawings, as I’m sure you’re already aware.
Stay cute!
