All the Little Figgies

A mister Joep Gerrits continues the longstanding trend of turning gigantically recognizable icons in character design and celebritay into different forms of recognizability. From smallest pixels to most giant and simple selections of color. Today, we’ve got illustrator Joep Gerrits. Above and below you’ll see not only about a billion different icons from a large variety of films, you’ve also got a poster that’s devoted singly to Star Wars! It’s a lovely formula!

You’ve got a formula here, in the size of the heads, the size of the bodies, even the color pallet. The first time I remember thinking about this sort of thing that Gerrits is doing, it was when I went to a comic convention and saw some custom-made LEGO characters, made to look like Star Wars people. You know how well that caught on, as there are real official Star Wars / Lego combinations in the world, official! Selling well!

And Gerrits has a good party going right here. This is just what it is, done right, made really nice. Peek on through! And be sure to check out the rest of Gerrit’s work in his online portfolio. It’s utterly fabulous.
