That’s right. One to one. A perfect replica of a chair that designer Anna Haenko chopped up and stuck together to show. What could a person do with a chair like this? Probably not sit on it. But like a printmaker who whips up 15 different color combinations for their 2 tone print project, it is important to test more than one option. If given the opportunity to test, test you must. Test you should, because it is exactly that, an opportunity, a gift from the experimentation gods.

Marseille Dimensional Replication

A mister David Lasnier, designer and 3D pro, has replicated Marseille. In an extended stay and discovery mission on the streets of France’s largest commercial port, Lasnier exercised his skill on the ol’ 3D rendering engine to replicate iconic items he found all around the city. What a fabulous set of virtual items he’s conjured up!

Flour, A Fair, A Furniture Fair

Today my colleague / friend Takashi and I were speaking on the pros and cons of the design fair. The one he was attending (Good Design Expo Japan) was different from the one in this post (Fuorisalone Milan), but the conversation would certainly have been the same. We spoke primarily of how even though it is wonderful and really right that when we’re at a gathering such as this that we get to see, touch, hold, and sit in the design, and yes, speak with the designers, it’s also a bummer that one cannot possibly see everything one wants to see. What is the solution to this? Photographer Giuseppe de Francesco may have an answer.

Stick with me here, because even though this post is about a soccer table, we’re about to get hella scientific. In nature, there is a thing called a fullerene. A fullerene is any molecules composed entirely of carbon, in the form of a hollow sphere, ellipsoid, or tube. These bits connect together to create hollow ball-like forms. The first fullerene to be discovered was the C60*, and it mimics the shape of a standard soccer ball exactly!

Mike Tyson’s Abandoned Mansion

First, you know who Mike Tyson is. He’s the boxer. He’s smashed a few faces in his day, and one day he even smashed a whole mansion and just left it there because he was totally just jamming with ferocity. It still stands there as he left it, in homage to his superior anger, and it’s been photographed by a real pro, Danny Wills, in two sets.

Disenfranchised youth! That’s what we’ve got here. Design concious fantastique photographer Pietro Cocco concocts this project entitled “MY GENERATION IS (IN)DIFFERENT” – a set of photos with dates ranging from 2000 to 2010. Each photo is meticulously set up and designed, each one features dated and timeless elements relating to rebellion, careful activity, and the lack thereof. Each picture is bright, precious, and soullessly full of heart. It’s difficult to describe my generation (the same generation, basically, that Cocco covers here, and he’s done it so well.

Copenhagen based design and art studio Hvass&Hannibal has their hands on a meeting room for meeting-room central DGI CITY (basically a gigantic hotel/restaurant/meeting area complex in Copenhagen.) Grumpy’s Mini Tour

Welcome to the North end of downtown Minneapolis’s neighborhood bar, Grumpy’s. It’s got basically everything made real good. It’s got live music every once in a while in the side room, and karaoke on Thursdays. The Melvins have played here more than once, poster(s) by Shepard Fairey. Test Prints by Aesthetic Apparatus decorate the side room, while the back of the bar, (now on hiatus, not open,) is the OX-OP gallery.
