So you know, if you grew up in say, the West, you came across a little thing at some point or another in your life called model cars. When the “modern” age of model cars came along, it continued through my childhood and survived pretty nicely to this day, even unto to the day this post is born. Anyone who’s made cars with kits in their childhood (or in their inner-childhood) knows, and will tell you, that the most amazing, technical, and stylistically important part of the whole process is also the most fun: the stickers.

From our old pal Kevin Cyr comes this fantastic collection of paintings all done of motor vehicles, especially trucks. Each of these trucks is rusted and painted, marked to uniqueness by those art outlaws of the environment, those graffiti writers. Kevin Cyr paints each vehicle with loving grace, making real sure to translate each detail with specificity. More than 16 cars in all, all painted on canvas.

Here at World Famous Design Junkies we LOVE explorations of cities, and G.H. here has his own manifesto about it. “Urban Notebooks” he calls it, his method for mayhem being seeing where people walk through cities he’s never been to, then going everywhere they don’t.

Hot dogs! Oh my goodness hotdogs! Coney Island Dogs. That’s what’s up. We’ve got a place around here (Minneapolis, Minnesota) called Uncle Frankey’s. Perhaps you’ve heard of it. They make amazing Coney Island Dogs. Supposedly they’re better on the REAL island, but who knows! These people do. And when I say these people, I mean all the people who took the photos included in the super insanely huge World Famous Design Junkies Coney Island Sign Explorer Collection. Oh wow the signs. Look at them all!

Hooray for photographer Landry A! It’s a fabulously graphic-minded photo-taker who covers both au-natural photographs AND unnatural design. I jest, of course, as all good design is natural as the grass. What L.A. has done here is to keep a photo series going of all the excellence in the several countries Landry is able to visit on a regular (and irregular) basis. The set you’re about to peek and flip through is out of Africa. Black and white and color are two separate sets, I’m sure you’ll be able to tell which is which.

This napkin right here is a convenience towel. It’s from a place called “Eddy’s,” it’s a lake resort along Lake Mille Lacs in Minnesota. It’s got a reel good idea, or had a real good idea a while ago. This particular towel is from the vast archives of “free stuff” my dad owns. This he brings with in his “hotel kit” which is brought along when it’s time to stay overnight at the casino with a free room or whatever he’s happened to win this month.

Oh ja! I love eBoy so much! They (eBoy group) have made my favorite conglomeration of pixel-made world scenes and vehicles and people and everything ever! Their pixels are absolutely lovely. This week, they’ve been commissioned to do the cover of DER SPIEGEL magazine. The commission includes a giant stop sign being constructed amidst internet signs of the most popular and wild sites for the headline “warum das internet neue regeln braucht” aka “why the internet needs new rules.”

Here it is. The camper bike. Artist / designer Kevin Cyr has created this fabulous monster with the “revolutionary heart” in mind. Cyr constructed this fully-functional piece both to use for camping and as a subject for a series of pictures. Paint, graphite pencil, and curious, inspired eyes are what makes this project fly!
