Michael Jordan x Shepard Fairey

As I’m sure you’re aware, I’ve been hooked on Obey Giant, aka Shepard Fairey since before the world knew who Barack Obama was. Even before that. Way way way back in time. And now what’ve we got here. Shepard Fairey is in international art superstar, creating and recreating the world in his image. Every time he hooks his hand up with another superstar subject or person, it’s a thrill. Today it’s the Bull. Michael Jordan.

UPDATE: Full series info below, direct from Obey Giant.

The image you see above comes directly from Weston D, one of the “inner circle” if you know what I mean at Obey Giant and Swindle Magazine and Studio Number One and all that good stuff. He’s also got it posted up on TheGiant.org messageboard, but there’s no details except the dimensions of a screenprint version of the image: 18″ x 24″.

The rest is a secret!

See if you can find the source image!
EDIT: FOUND by anonymous – thanks! (see below)

Upper Deck Authenticated Unveils Michael Jordan Hall of Fame Tribute Series from Artist Shepard Fairey
Series includes Jordan UNC, BULLS, and Hall of Fame Portrait Prints

Everything about Michael Jordan is iconic, from his slam dunks to his signature shoes to his tongue wagging to his number, so he makes a great subject for portraiture because everything about him is laced with cultural significance. You can tell from the look in his eyes, even back when he was at the University of North Carolina, that he was obsessed with greatness, but he also managed to do everything with a sense of flair. I think it’s that combination of intensity and style, and of course his singular talent, that make him the embodiment of a legend.

We couldn’t be more thrilled.”

find this photo or a similar photo, open in photoshop, posterize and clean up with a vector tool. make your own, its a pretty simple technique, maybe takes about an hour, or more depending on how much love u want to put into it. otherwise, this design is dime a dozen, photograph is preferred in this case.

thanks for your input but the “technique” takes a bit more effort if you’re going to make a legitimate shepard fairey image. it’s easy to copy once he’s made it, but realizing an original is a whole different story.

it’s like saying “make your own picture of marilyn monroe, they’re all the same”
