Australia born, Tokyo based, doodle livin’. That’s what’s going on with illustrator / motion graphics designer Ant Hayes. And here’s a project: “Portrait Series.” This is where normally someone would take photos of all their subjects or draw them from real life, making them look either real nice or real silly, etcetera. In the case of the ANT, there’s something really wild going on. Tubes. Tentacles, patterns, pyramids, stripes, circles, squirmy bits. Something’s coming out of these people.

EeeeEEEwww is what I said when I first looked at these creepers. Then I remembered how long it takes to draw something like this. The patience and the skill, the radical planning it takes, or the sense to work in a way that allows for excellent growth. You’ll see seven people in this slermy crew, then more of the way of the sword of ANT below that.

ANT is in to drawing, doodling, inking. He’s one of those fabulous ones who’s got a fun sort of sensibility that attaches itself easily to lots of different kinds of media, especially those that can travel far on the streets like clothing, stickers, posters, all that.

To contact ANT for a commission, drawing, night on the town, email him at or visit his excellent portfolio sort of site at http://www.antisant.com/ – dig it!

NOTE: When you look down below I’m sure you’ll recognize several images, marks, pictures, that are other artist’s works covered in ANT’s doodles. This is another series called “Other People’s Things” and it includes several artists and brands you may have heard of such as James Jarvis, Bape, Obey, and KAWS. This series was done in time to be exhibited at Design Festa Vol.29! A very very fun exhibition where all the cool designers and artists go to high five!
