Another batch! Perhaps you remember the last time Iain Macarthur lit up the internet with his lovely pen and ink drawings? He’s not been idle since then, keeping all of his illustration instruments whistling the whole time, as all good workers do. This period around there’s some interesting deviations from the first collection. Amongst those are a heavier allowance of pencil markings, a very obvious dip into the power pool of negative space, and a bit of Bill Murray. Glance with admiration at these amazing portraits.
Devour their aptitude for cleanliness, clarity, and frivolity.
I think you’ll notice fantastically well-chosen detail mixed with pop-flat black and white framing features. In these nine pictures are evidence of a very talented illustrator. The bold use of these new-age features shows Macarthur to be an artist designer who wishes not only to participate in our modern creative arts world and scene, but also to move it forward.
I think the most interesting of the bunch is the one you see above with the anti-hands and hat, but definitely consider the Bill. He’s got flowers on his mind. And in his beard.
