BACKFLASHES Graffiti Tales by RUEDIONE

Enter photographer and former street artist Ruedione. What he’s got here is a gigantic set of utterly gorgeous photos from his graffiti opus “BACKFLASHES.” They are black, they are white, they are dark, and they are full of light. Taken following his comrades through the back alleys, streets, and trainyards of Germany, Ruedione documents what’s most often thought of as a coldhearted activity in a very emotional way; full of heart.

Welcome to a very intense sequence of events caught in a very real and very raw way by a dude who’s been there, felt that, and now wants to transmit that.

[here, in this project,] the images show all the tension, the adrenalin and the kicks that graffiti writers experience.

[in BACKFLASHES you experience] a visual expedition into a world that usually is restricted to the members of a very small scene. – R

After you’re done clicking on through the preview below, take a look at the talk Ruedione has done with German/English “ilovegraffiti” – Ruedione x Interview And if you haven’t seen it already (I bet you haven’t cause it’s barely in bookstores,) check out where you can purchase the book up at da official news source: http://ruedione.com/blog/

This post is sitting high and pretty up in the World Famous Design Junkies Black and White department. Who would dare dismiss color? Masters of light and darkness.

Black/white reduces everything on its forms, in my case I mean the basics I want to show. There are also series that definitely need colors, in my point of view it is very seldom. For me, transferring emotions is important. It’s not about the pure documentation; this would be impossible, today. I’m just free and work in the most efficient way. -R

B-B-B-BONUS! Here’s the music video for ATOM ONE’s song “Stahlbeton” – completely constructed of photographs taken and set in motion by Ruedione!

The busy hand moves in many directions!
