I’d be lying if I said I didn’t sometimes avoid perfectly good stories about Shepard Fairey because I’ve been accused of shooting up Andre the Giant Has a Posse stickers up my arm with a red and black syringe – but shit!, man! What’s a person to do? Shepard Fairey is a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon, and so is Lance Armstrong. And here they are together – bikes and murals and collaboraborations abound!
A Tour of Italy Trek Madone and Tour of Italy Trek TTX. Images courtesy of Lance Armstrong. Oh also there’s a mural. Oh also there’s some other stuff, and probably Shepard Fariey and Lance Armstrong are basically best buds. Forever. And they might have publicly and secretly been best buds for up to a whole year ago!
This is totally Livestrong galvanization.
May 6 update: There a helmet in the deal also. Pics below. “Shep Fairey Giro Ionos helmet for the Tour of Italy.”
And then there’s a big-ass mural n stuff:
Cancer has affected my life like it has millions of others. Both my mom’s sisters died of breast cancer and my mom underwent a double preventative mastectomy because of her genetic predisposition to breast cancer. A good friend of mine, Justin Van Hoy is about to have a bone marrow transplant because of his Leukemia. When Lance Armstrong asked me to participate in his “Stages” art project, and create a mural for the side of the Montalban Theater in Hollywood, I was honored and glad to help the cause.
