Takashi Murakami Self Portraits Exhibition Preview

Oh hay! Takashi Murakami is having a new show! It’s gonna feature a four giant Kanye bears, one each of gold, bronze, silver, and full-color (for those of you new to the albums of Kanye West, he’s had a Bearlike avatar in place of himself on covers, the second newest of which was designed by Murakami.) This new show (which’ll be taking place in Paris) will also contain a bunch of what Murakami calls his self-portraits. Anything which includes a shipload of colors and fantastical images beyond imagination.

You remember Murakami, right? There was a post on World Famous Design Junkies about a collaboration between Pharrell Williams and Takashi Murakami just recently: it’s a sculpture which is basically a big head with a diamond-encrusted Pepsi can inside.

Right here right now we’ve got a bit of the pre-release info on some pieces:

In total, the show will display seventeen paintings, including three monumental works, five sculptures and two films. The show is entitled “Self-Portraits” and opens on September 15th and runs through the 17th of October, 2009.
