Oh you Choe, you just keep on whipping it out and twisting it out. What you’re seeing here is a slim and lovely preview presented by David Choe for his brand spanking new show called SIDEBUSTERS that will be taking place April 23 2010. What you’re looking at is tiny clips of gigantic murals and some milk-chocolate sized paintings straight out of the painting room of Choe himself. These paintings will be shown at the Sidebusters show somewhere in Beverly Hills. I ain’t even know where the gallery is going to be, but maybe I’ll tell you when the time comes. And also? He’s hanging out with Die Antwoord then too. Continue reading

Shepard Fariey Dumps it Out
With a whoosh, there goes Shepard Fairey’s faith in the sacred O. Maybe not, maybe more of a crap’s last crap has been given about the modern age of U.S. politics: more likely that. This is a poster that’s going to be released on the second of April, 2010 – it’s called “These Parties Disgust Me” and it’s looking an aweful lot like Meryl Streep, or it feels like that anyway, doesn’t it? Meryl! Smell the filth of the parties here and now! Continue reading
Twelve Works by the Boomerang and Music Box Kid
Since you’re here, I’m going to go ahead and assume you’ve seen the movie Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior. In it is one of the most fantastic no-words-speaking little men in the whole world. He is a character named “Feral Boy” in the credits, noone says his name the whole movie. In the movie he is known for throwing a bad-ass boomerang that cuts off the fingers of one of the bad guys and chomping its way into the brain of another. He’s a deadly little fellow. He’s also presented with a fun little music box by Mel Gibson! But this is all beside the point. The pictures you see above and below are by an artist who happens to share the name “Feral Boy” with that character, and his paintings here are unbelievable. Continue reading
The King of Wild Green Cars
This is the greatest car I have ever seen. I would literally drive this car. I am the sort of person that’s frightened to drive amazing cars because I know how easy it is to make someone jealous, inciting the milkshake or rotten egg attack, but this! This is magnificent! How could anyone ever attack such a fabulous moment in reality? Noone could. It is the perfect car. Truly it is unique, too, as it is a one-off prototype of the ever-so-sleek Alfa Tipo 33 chassis. These colors are unmatched in their coolness. This is now. Continue reading
Boom Bap
Hey child, get out your powerful magic player of the music. That’s right, it’s the boombox. It’s the thing you get out and put a tape in there in the tape deck and BAM, you’ve got such a sound you can bring with you and blast all over everyone’s face in the streets. And all it takes to run it is 12 double-D batteries. Get some batteries! And look at this fabulous photo project by Lyle Owerko. It’s called, appropriately, “The Boombox Project” and he even whipped up an excellent nutshelled history of the box too! It’s all here, all of it. Continue reading
Hype Hustle McMullen
Oh my crap look at this awesome stuff. This guy right here Bill McMullen had a show from Feb 21st 2009 to March 28th 2009 and bam, if it weren’t just what you never expected to be there, but a genuine R2-D2 boombox. Does that sound familiar to you? It does to me, pal, it does to me hella familiar if I do say so myself. If you know what I’m talking about, you know I’m talking about the R2-D2 boombox that’s still on the World Famous Design Junkies front page as we speak! It’s a dead ringer for the one in this art show, and this is the perfect time to talk about it at the same time as talking about IT! Continue reading
Fun with Burgers
I know you love burgers. Even if you hate the idea of chopped up cows, the burger is an idea that’s permeated this United States culture in a way that’s only rivaled by the hot dog. Lucky for you, there’s hotdogs in this project as well! This is a font called “Burgerlove” made by a few friendly designers that wanted to have fun with food and fun with fonts. Hand made fonts are generally what I would call a rudimentary sort of exercise, but here you see the time and effort and learning that comes with smashing bits of dead animal into letterforms. You’d better believe it! Those burgers aren’t mooing anymore! Continue reading
Mister President, Behold
The United States Government’s collection of fantastic or otherwise hyper-powerful things. Yes! This is what you and I KNOW they’re hiding. Every superhero or strange thing they’ve made a movie of is true! Real stuff, made entertainment to throw us off the track! But now Obama knows, so who knows what’ll happen next! The following is a collection of edited photos conjured up by comic artist Dean Trippe and submitted to us to tell the truth! That truly President Obama has been allowed into the motherload factory of awesome to inspect the weapons and gadgets of the greats. Many more in store. Continue reading
Mathematics of Greatness
Incase you aren’t aware, one of the many things WFDJ is is a hunter. We, we are hunters. On the run. Seeking and stabbing all over these internets, cultivating and growing. And where does that lead ME sometimes? To designed magnificence that sometimes does not have a name on it. Case in point: the five images you are about to see. Each of them is a sports chart. For archiving purposes, I’ve titled them “Charts of Sports Excellence.” And we’re looking for the person who made em. So if you’re that person, step yourself forward. Or if you just KNOW, shoot us in the right direction. Continue reading
Derivations of Mouse
Let’s talk about the mouse. The Mickey the mouse. That’s the one. He’s all over earth. He is everywhere, and he is forever. He is an inspiration and a muse for basically every modern artist in any sort of POP field, and he’s made millions and billions of dollars for at least a couple people, if not trillions. As you may be aware, WFDJ does have one story about the, ahem, OTHER mouse in the world on his mind-melding adventure, but not collections. Not until now. This is the biggest and fattest of the Mickey posts. It is a certified Neverending Post, and it’s starting right the mouse now. Continue reading
WFDJ Big Money Layout
Hey, get layed out. Perhaps, if you’ve been to WFDJ several times or more, you might notice we’ve got some new layout going on. It’s got money in it. The background you see is a pattern from a stock certificate, and the double certified stars in the upper right there are from a dollar bill. These, plus more in the future you can be your biffy, are from the generous folks over at Shutterstock. They came up to me, those shutterstock people, and they said hey, we like what we see here, can we offer you a deal? And I was all suspicious. But then they said “free” and I was very much pleased. Continue reading
Metaphysical Graffiti, a Set of Cards by Wackystuff!
Behold a magnificent gigantonormous project from the graphic eyeballs perfection master WACKYSTUFF. What a fantastic name! What you’re about to look at is a project by him, one of re-purposed images done in a maximum style, a collection of images twelve HUNDRED deep! That’s one thousand, two hundred cards in this collection. Each card in this project is postcard sized, laminated, and has added deckled edges. Each of the images is FOUND, that means he didn’t draw them. This is POP. The project has a name, and it is “Metaphysical Graffiti.” Below you will find but a smidgen of the entire project, as twelve hundred would take a little bit too long to load. Continue reading
Artoo-Boombox
That’s right child, it’s Star Wars time. It’s that time of the day, not the week, the day, when you get your Darth Vader helmet on and start clicking around seeing if you can find something, anything you haven’t seen before. A lost prop, a photo of Lando, anything! And what do you find, yes, what do you find indeed?! You find a boombox of white, blue, and red, and a pair of gold headphones. They look familiar, you say to yourself, they look familiar indeed. Continue reading
That Walking Karate Dog
A day or so ago from now, I and half a million other people from the internet saw a moving image, a gif, of the dog you see above this text right now. He was on reddit. It was wild. He is basically stepping forward with his hands and feet, in a very awkward, direct set of motions. The image got about a billion hits. Millions of people have seen that image and keekled at it. Little giggles for a small element, so direct, so wild, that it was not only seen by millions, it was also shared by them. This is the essence of the modern internets.
Below you will see the source material for that dog. Continue reading
Billy Dee Day 2010
Hello and welcome to the smoothness. Today is World Famous Design Junkies Billy Dee Day 2010. It’s the first. It runs from now, until tomorrow right now. That’s how tough it is. And let me tell you something, it doesn’t just go down cool because it’s the first time there’s ever been a BDD, it’s also time for the official Colt45 / Billy Dee Williams 2010 campaign. It’s been going on for a while now, but OFFICIALLY it starts right now. Because it’s Billy Dee Day. Wont you join us for a little refreshment?
Everyone’s invited, of course.
Make yourself comfortable. Continue reading
Tatood Pigs Party
There ain’t no two way about it, some pigs just have tattoos. And there is more than one ways about how they got that way. The piggie you see above is one inked by a mister Andy Feehan, who had a rather interesting obsession with drawing the little buggers before he found the perfect combination, the solution to his unstoppable tick tack, that being the application of ink to the pig. And thus it was done. Below you’re going to find quite a few pigs tattooed by artist Wim Delvoye, who has made it a large part of his art career to do just this sort of thing, along with a bunch of unknowns as well. Continue reading
Emek Poster Gallery Post
Emek is a man. Emek is a poster man. Emek is an illustrator, graphic designer, squeegee pulling, printmaking, sort of dude, and he works with and on amazing projects from here to Badu. Below lets devour the magical mysteries that are the Emek rock and roll poster extravaganza, since that is his claim to fame, and let us reflect on the majesty of the process, from original illustration and hand-written letters to screen to hand-pulled inks. Continue reading
Wet Wet Wethead
There’s a photographer named Alan Powdrill. He’s a photographer who has a name that is very similar to a tool. It’s just like Alan Power Drill. But that’s not his name, dude! That’s not what he is, either! He’s a totally amazing photographer holy crap! And he’s got a set of photos right here. It’s called “Wethead.” It’s a set of photographs of people getting a bucket of water poured over their head. Continue reading
Dan O’Bannon, All Alien, In Tribute
Let’s talk. I need you to know who Dan O’Bannon is. He’s one of the largest reasons the first Alien (1979) movie was written, produced, exists. He was one of the two writers on that film, and helped on it through production. Another thing about him that’s rather important I feel is that he was a good friend to H.R. Giger. The artist wild beast that is H.R. Giger is the one who illustrated the monster. Recently, I basically just found out, Dan O’Bannon passed on to death. This is a tribute to that man using his friend H.R. Giger’s artworks, the stranger wildnesses of the film, and the rarities that come from the darkness that is the evil corners of these internets. Be on your guard. Continue reading
Seasonal Function Order
You know that terrible feeling you get when spring comes and everyone is all happy but you’re kinda bummed out because you can’t wear your big ugly boots anymore? That’s like kinda sorta the opposite feeling people who garage sale get. The garage sale people (and me, I’m one of them) get really pumped up. They go get their cup of quarters, their fanny packs, their walking shoes, visors, and maybe even their water bottle ready. They have all this stuff ready, and they get out there, and they buy stuff. They buy stuff they might never have ever thought about needing, and they pay 10 cents for it. The photo set you’re about to lay your eyeballs on is called “!GARAGE SALE!”, taken by Caroline Palla. Continue reading
Retail Developmentvironment
Just when I need reminding the least, another reason why I love working on these internets comes up. This is a series of photos that goes by the name “Retail Careers” by Auckland, New Zealand resident Ill Domus. The following set is, yes! you guessed it, candid photos of people working in retail clothing sales environments. I’d like to mention that these photos were taken with great skill, but that when you take a set of photos with such a lovely command line as this, they could be half blurry and they’d still be super cool. Take em all! Continue reading
Floating Under Water
Behold, an aqueous set of photographs taken and produced by a really radically talented picture taker by the name of Mark Mawson. They’re so aqueous in fact, that they’re nearly all fully submerged. There’s several groups, some of them with a single photo, some of them with several. Discover the beautiful quality inherent in each captured bit of light floating in space, and the color, oh my goodness the color. What a masterful selection of elements. Continue reading
Expo of the Barn
Not just my favorite kind of pizza, this multi-artist exhibition called “Barnstormers” is just about to blow your socks off with wildness and oddly-sensual curation. Take a peek first at the piece above. It’s a record player with giant speakers, all of it stashed and screwed into the base of a swanktastic seat. You look at that then you look at any of the pieces below, you tell me if you could’ve guessed they’d be in the same show. No way. But is that any deterrent for you? Naught! Discover the full spread. Continue reading
Gaming Skateboards ala REAL
Oh joy! This skateboard company you may have heard of called “Real Skateboards” has a new set of boards and an entire experience ready to go set up around old classic video games. Real Gaming. They’ve even got their own interactive webpage set up around it. Play all the games! What we’ve got though is a close up look at all of the board graphics. Each of these is illustrated by the ultra-talented Alex Turan, graphic artist and designer. Continue reading
A Real Cardboard Chair Replica
That’s right. One to one. A perfect replica of a chair that designer Anna Haenko chopped up and stuck together to show. What could a person do with a chair like this? Probably not sit on it. But like a printmaker who whips up 15 different color combinations for their 2 tone print project, it is important to test more than one option. If given the opportunity to test, test you must. Test you should, because it is exactly that, an opportunity, a gift from the experimentation gods. Continue reading
